Climeworks named as one of the TIME100 Most Influential Companies of 2024

Today, TIME reveals the fourth-annual TIME100 Most Influential Companies list, highlighting companies making an extraordinary impact around the world.

To assemble the list, TIME solicited nominations across sectors and polled its global network of contributors and correspondents, as well as outside experts. Then, TIME editors evaluated each on key factors, including impact, innovation, ambition, and success. The result is a diverse group of 100 businesses helping chart an essential path forward.

Jan Wurzbacher and Christoph Gebald founded Climeworks in 2009 to bring to life a tangible, engineered solution to remove CO₂ from the air to help fight global warming. Their pioneering leadership has since put direct air capture (DAC) on the map of climate solutions, kick-starting the development of an entire industry with the world’s first commercial-scale direct air capture and storage (DAC+S) plant Orca, and most recently, Mammoth in Iceland, transforming Climeworks into the global leader in carbon dioxide removal (CDR). Climeworks has previously featured in TIME and TIME100's Most Influential Companies of 2022.

The full TIME100 Companies list will be featured in the June 10, 2024 issue of TIME, which will be available on newsstands beginning Friday, May 31.
